America The Beautiful

I love this country. I love the different types of climates and terrains it has to offer. You can live in almost any of the climates this planet has to offer. We have frozen tundras and we have subtropical zones. We have deserts and we have swamps. There are the plains of the Midwest and the hills and mountains of the Appalachians and the Rockies. We have great rivers, beautiful lakes and tons of oceanfront property - more than you can shake a stick at!

Just as great is the diversity of opinions that can be found. Everything from Marxist/Stalinists on the left to anarchists on the right can be found with the click of a button or by picking up a newspaper or turning on the television. Even more amazing is the fact that all of these viewpoints are tolerated by the government. In many countries around the world, such debate or open displays of dissenting opinions can result in jail time or execution. There is no First Amendment to shield citizens from the wrath of their government and the media is merely an extension of the government. Anyone caught expressing an opinion that does not coincide with the official position of the government is summarily executed or never seen again.

While Cindy BanSheehan ties herself to the White House fence, let's appreciate the fact that she's free to go any time she wants.

Great post, Nightcrawler. Thank you!

I wish I'd never heard that traitor's name!

Good to know that you have selective love for your country. As long as it's run by Conservatives you'll be happy. And that's really not what it's about.

Thats a weak arguement especcily when your party was gonna go to Canada if Bush won. Why arnet they there anyway?

Did I say that I was going to? No. While I do think that Canada is quite a lovely country, I have never stated that I would move there after election results. Afterall, there can be no difference made if those that disagree keep quite or move away. It just interested me that on a blog about loving America, it was still easy to be sooooo partisan in the post.

Allisoni said: " It just interested me that on a blog about loving America, it was still easy to be sooooo partisan in the post." That's because Nightcrawler is a conservative. Every comment you make is also partisan, is it not? (Here I am again, trying to reason with a liberal. I must be brain damaged!) A liberal who also said:
"As long as it's run by Conservatives you'll be happy. And that's really not what it's about." Truly, you are so far off base it's pathetic. Love of country, at least not to conservatives, has nothing to do with who is presently sitting in the Oval Office. (Even with who is sitting in the Oval Office has an Intern on her knees performing what Clinton said isn't really sex, and committing adultery, which you so easily thought nothing of) We still loved our country, we just didn't love Clinton. If we had been the sort of people Cindy is, we would have pranced around the White House dressed in Blue with white stains on us and carrying signs that said things I cannot say here!

No! To us love of country means just that. We love America whether a liberal or a conservative is running it. So you stand corrected!

It's a beautiful post, Nightcrawler. The diversity of this countrie's terrain is what I appreciate about it most. I've driven it coast to coast and border to border several times, and I am always overwhelmed! Even in Texas there are four different terrains. This country is a blessing and I will always be grateful for having been born an American.

I am not a member of this blog, I only comment. This blog was created for its members to express their love of country, not their love of conservatives or liberals. Ms. Sheehan has every right to do what she has done, and as you may have missed, quite a few others have expressed agreement with her point. I do not protest publicly, and I do not agree with the president, but I have said several times before that I feel the way I do BECAUSE I love my country and am embarrassed by what this president has decided it should stand for.

Also, I do not see how President Clinton's affair has anything to do with anyone else besides those directly involved. When he is responsible for the deaths of more than 2,000 Americans, plus thousands more of innocent civilians, then maybe you will have an argument.

Allisoni, you obviously missed the entire point of this post. The point I was making, the point that Gayle evidently got but you missed, was that it is a good thing that people are free to run their mouths (as you are incredibly good at doing) whether or not they have anything worth saying. In your case, I'm betting on "not".

You somehow divined some sort of partisanship out of a post celebrating diversity of opinion? You took my post, a post congratulating us for giving people the right to spout off their (in your case, completely worthless) opinions while being free from government oppression as being some sort of conservative rant. What is wrong with you?

Are you so blinded by sheer hatred that you see some sort of conspiracy in everything? It must be miserable being you.

In case you missed it, and I'm sure you did, I was saying that Ms. Bansheehan is not being tied to the White House fence against her will. I was not assaulting her or attempting to deny her the right to protest. If anything, I was supporting her right to do so.

who died so you could spout this crap. But what do you care? They're just political game for you. As far as Sheehan cares the more the better because then she'll have more reasons to spout antiwar crap. Did you also forget the 1000000 iraqis saved? I didnt think so.

Who died so that I could say that? Well, considering it's true, no one really had to. There is no way for you to refute that, as it is a fact. This "war" started by our president and his administration has killed all of those people for NO REASON. Oh, you will certainly give me all that garbage about terrorism and freeing the Iraqi people, but it's all bull. We're there because he WANTED to go there for his own personal reasons, and he searched until he found a fairly believable reason for the public to support him. Not that that matters anyway, as the reason has failed to stay the same for more than a few months at a time.

Nightcrawler, you pointed out liberal opinions that you disagree with and questioned why they are tolerated by the government. You have no appreciation for Ms. Sheehan's ability to do what she's doing, and your sarcasm clearly stated that.

Allisoni, are you illiterate? Can you even read beyond a 2nd grade level? Where exactly did I question why the government is tolerating her? Where is exactly did I say anything other than "let's appreciate the fact that she (much as yourself) is free to run her mouth all she wants..."? I said nothing except that this country is wonderful because illiterate, hate-filled wackos (that'd be you and Ms. Sheehan) have the freedom to carry on like that.

Have a good night.
