Secret Mexican

I've been coming up with a song about illegal immigrants, it goes to the tune of Secret Agent Man.

(disclaimer: I don't hate Mexicans, I hate Mexicans who come here illegally)

three hundred and seventy illegals coming tomorrow
If we let them through we'll soon feel sorrow

He got a drivers license from the mayor
And 10 billion bucks from the taxpayer

Secret Mexican
Secret Mexican

He's passin' through our borders
And takin' money from the man

He came to sell his crack
And I doubt that he'll go back
The minute men won't wait until tomorrow

Secret Mexican
Secret Mexican

He's passin' through our borders
And takin' money from the man

He sits in a nice chair
Collecting his welfare
The taxpayer won't wait until tomorrow

Secret Mexican
Secret Mexican

He's passin' through our borders
And takin' money from the man

Secret Mexican
Secret Mexican

He's passin' through our borders
And takin' money from the man

I know this is just a parody song and I know that you all are just young adults, so I'll quit bugging you after this correction (and after shaming you for your racist comments):

"...the estimated seven million or so illegal immigrant workers in the United States are now providing the system with a subsidy of as much as $7 billion a year..." in social security dollars. That is, they have SS taken out of their paychecks that they'll never see.

I've seen other reports pointing out the millions of dollars illegals spend in our economy and pay in our taxes all of which contributes. Additionally, many industries rely upon illegal immigrants where they can't find enough local labor.

They do, in fact, contribute to our society.

Now a good question for intelligent debate might be: If NAFTA has improved the lot of both US and Mexican workers, why do we have more Mexicans than ever passing through our borders to get jobs here? Could it be that NAFTA is only benefitting the big corps at the expense of us little people?

Final comment: The $7 billion is just what they're paying in Social Security. They're also paying taxes on food, taxes on gas, taxes on everything they buy. I don't have official numbers, but you can safely say that it is more than $3 billion added to our society's coffers.

If they had the means to do it the legal way, they may not need to sneak over. They sneak over because they're desperately poor.

As to the racism charge: "they're filling up our schools and stinking up our pools"? That doesn't smack to you of racism? OK, then I'll lessen the charge to elitism.

And now, little brother, I bid you peace and goodwill. Seek to add to the goodness in the world and keep writing.

If you walked through deserts and rivers to get by the borders you'd smell bad too, right.

Whatever, I'll change it.

I like the new verse much better. Thanks for helping to make my song better, nicer and funnier!

Yeeeeah, I'm guessing he's a 60's leftover. I could be wrong but he certinally comes off as one.

Dark, why is it that you have to make negative personal comments towards the other commenters? Just because someone has proof of things you disagee with does not make them less of a person. Back up your own thoughts and lay off the people who already do.

Who let in all the hippies? We really need better security around here. ;-)

I also want to know where in the hell these people are coming up with the figure 7 million "undocumented, migrant workers"... try over 25 million pal. They're destroying the health care system in Arizona and other border states. How's that for your taxes? I can do without their contributions.

If I hear this excuse one more time I think I may be sick. Let me ask a question here: If you were a big company/corporation and you had a choice between being able to pay an illegal immigrant pennies to the dollar that you would have to pay an American worker and on top of it you didn't have to offer them any sort of health benefits, which would you hire? Of course the companies will hire the illegals. Americans would do the job for fair pay and benefits, but these companies are only interested in filling their own pockets with money and the best way to do that is to hire illegal immigrants that will do the jobs for much less.
The millions of illegal immigrants in this country have done nothing more then drive down wages. So please don't tell me that these illegal immigrants help our economy by taking jobs us Americans won't take. It's simply not true!

I'm okay with the hippy tag, but I was actually a bit young (just barely) to be in the hip crowd then. (Actually during my teens in the 70's, I was quite the little conservative.)

I'd prefer the tag of Jesus Freak, though. Amish Hippy. Quaker Dude. Along those lines.

My politics are informed by my belief system, for what it's worth.

Peace and thanks for the welcome.

Wake up. Open your eyes. None of us are true-blue natives of this great land mass. Get over it. Understand that you are bitching hypocritical when you pidgeon-hole Hispanics as the next scapegoat in the 'war' against immigration. You cozy belonging was not won so cozily.

Thank your great-great whatevers for coming here at a time when xenophobia and ethnocentrism hadn't encroached upon the ideological fabric of our mass public.

Thank God for providing a small window for those great-greats to come to the 'land of opportunity' and settle with hardship, but without hatred unless yours were irish or black like mine.

Get over your imperialism. Reach out and protect the freedoms that you wear so proudly on your sleeves. Ours' is not a free country until we understand what freedom means. Open your eyes. Be wary of the rhetoric that makes citizens impotent consumers.
